Mark Mazzanti co-founded Mazzanti and Associates LLC in 2019, following a 35-year career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In his role as President of the specialized consulting firm, Mazzanti combines his technical expertise with business and public policy experience to create effective strategies in water resources management, development and implementation.
Mazzanti served as a member of the Senior Executive Service for the 10 years prior to his retirement in October 2019. Mazzanti retired as the Director of Programs, Southwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As the Division’s senior civilian, he was responsible for managing and directing the programming, planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance, and dredging activities of the Division’s over $5 billion program. He also served as the senior advisor to the Commanding General and provided oversight of execution for SWD's four districts’ programs.
Mazzanti also previously served as Chief of the Programs Integration Division at Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC. In this position, he was responsible for recommending the scope, direction, content and options for the entire Civil Works long-range and annual programs, coordinating the justification and defense of program resource requirements and overseeing execution of the program. He also directed the review and analysis of the Civil Works programs and budget requirement of the 8 Corps’ Divisions and 38 Districts. He was further responsible for a multitude of other duties, including development and administration approval of the Corps’ Civil Works’ Strategic Plan, Corps’ Congressional liaison efforts and for coordination with key Federal agencies, such as the Office of Management and Budget.
Prior to his assignment to Corps Headquarters, Mazzanti was the Director of Programs for the Mississippi Valley Division/Mississippi River Commission. In this assignment he served as the senior advisor to the Commanding General/MRC President and provided oversight of execution for MVD's six districts’ programs. He also served as a principal staff member to the seven presidentially appointed members of the MRC. Mazzanti began his career with the Corps in 1984 as a civil engineer with the Vicksburg District, advancing through a wide variety of planning, project and program management assignments to become the Chief of Programs Branch and special advisor to the District’s senior civilian, the Deputy for Project Management.
A native of Lake Village, Arkansas, Mazzanti received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from University of Mississippi He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and is married to the former Frances Beth Ginn of Columbia, MS and they reside in Dallas, Texas.
